Many people think that leadership is easy. They look at the generous salary, they look at the comfortable office, they look at the flexible schedule and imagine that it'd be great to be in leadership. And, to be sure, it is indeed a privilege to be in a leadership role.

When you look closer, leadership is also a responsibility to serve others, to make tough decisions, and to take huge risks. Leadership requires courage and is not for the faint of heart. Courage allows us to do the right thing even when it would be tempting to take the easy way out. Courage causes us to persevere when the economy is weak.

Most importantly, however, true leaders also demonstrate courage in every day ways by:

(1) Displaying optimism by always pointing to a better future.

(2) Always believing the best about others.

(3) Striving for excellence in all they do.

(4) Overcoming obstacles in their path.

True leaders choose to be courageous. They are not born that way, but they choose each day to chase their dream by acting on what they know to be right and serving others.

Personal Challenge:

Today is your day! Leading is a privilege. Choose to be courageous!
