If you ask people how they learn, many would say by reading, studying for an exam, or going to workshops. These are traditional ways in which education and learning take place. However, while these tools are good, they provide us with knowledge, but not wisdom.

Knowledge is that process of learning information that could be useful to you. It contains facts, statistics, and maybe ideas. However, wisdom is built out of life experiences. Experiences force us to apply what we know to problems, task, and goals. Wisdom is often more difficult to obtain and is born out of the challenges we face.

Challenges cause us to ask questions, learn new tools, rediscover existing knowledge, and then apply that knowledge to successfully create new solutions. Few people love to think about difficulties they face, but in fact we should be thankful for those challenges. No, I'm not suggesting that you are thankful for the difficult things that happen to you. Rather, I'm suggesting that life's challenges are black clouds with silver linings. It is in times of challenge that we're focused to stretch beyond our comfort zone, to search for new answers, and to create new ideas.

What challenges have you avoided because they are uncomfortable? Embracing a challenge while anticipating growth will change your attitude and cause you to watch for the silver linings along the way!
