It’s Prime Time!

In the media there are segments of the day called prime time. Prime time is when networks have the largest audience, and it’s reserved for their best programming. Only top-rated shows air and they almost never show reruns during this time. These much-coveted time slots require planning and strategy to ensure maximized results.

In the world of leaders we also have prime time segments in our day. Prime time for us is about how we use the time we have to interface with our clients and team. We have to plan for this prime time. Consider how you show up for your work. Are you prepared for your day? Are you ready to engage with the people you will meet as well as your priorities? Starting out rested, focused, and anticipating a productive day is essential if we are going to receive the best outcome from our “prime time.”

Additionally, for each person we interact with there is a key time when they are available and open to engaging with us. As a leader we need to consider their style, preferences, and approach them in the optimal way. By doing so, you allow them to participate at their best and multiply the outcome from “prime time” engagement.

Debra Bates, owner of Choice Business Center is a great example of what “prime time” is all about. In her recent podcast with us, Debra describes how she prepares for her day and how she considers the verbal and non-verbal messages she might send to others. Her awareness of how to communicate in the best way allows her to navigate her relationships and priorities with great success.

How are you using your “prime time”? Consider being strategic and envision the great ratings and returns on your time if you can avoid fillers like email, procrastination, and other low-priority activity. Tune in to Debra Bates’ two-part Leadership Bits and Bytes episode to hear how she is ready for Prime Time! You can listen on major streaming platforms or watch on youtube.
